Therapist in Burbank, CA
“If being hard on yourself worked, it would’ve already worked.”
Most people, by the time they come into therapy, are exhausted from carrying things on their own. Helping people feel like they’re not alone and like there’s a way through their experience is my passion! I’m Toby Barron, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #89672) offering compassionate, evidence-based therapy in Burbank, CA, both in-person and online. My approach is trauma-informed, client-centered, and shaped around what you specifically need, rather than a one-size-fits-all script.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, working through a life transition, exploring your gender or identity, or trying to rebuild trust in a relationship, therapy is a space to slow down and take note of what’s really going on. New clients are always welcome, and every plan is tailored to each individual’s needs.

Work with a Therapist Who Meets You Exactly Where You Are
It’s hard to reach out to a new therapist. Many people expect judgment or a lack of understanding. I find, though, that that expectation stems from the notion that needing help is inherently shameful. Sometimes it also stems from bad experiences with vulnerability or therapists in the past. If you’re interested in improving your quality of life and you want a safe place to start, then this could be the right place for you.
A lot of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware adults who have extensively tried to address their needs on their own. There’s no need to frame that as a failure of any sort. That effort matters and can be a great launch pad for the work we’ll do together.
The work we do together will come from a very supportive, non-judgemental place. In session, we slow down and get curious. Using tools including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), we untangle anxious thinking patterns and build practical skills for emotional regulation. With EMDR therapy, we can gently process trauma so it stops feeling like it’s happening in the present.
If you’re seeking gender-affirming therapy, you won’t need to educate me or justify your identity here. Whether you’re exploring, questioning, transitioning, or simply looking for a safe space where your lived experience is understood, this is a place to talk with someone who’s already familiar.
My role isn’t to fix you or push you toward some version of yourself you’re supposed to become. It’s to build a real therapeutic relationship, understand your experience, and help you connect to what you, specifically, need.
